Step-to-Step guide to grow Sprouted Garlic

  • First of all, we need to choose the right cloves of garlic. For this, we will take garlic whose all cloves are whole and which has green sprouts. We have to carefully separate all the cloves from the garlic so that no clove is damaged and has a peel on it.
  • Now that we have collected the garlic cloves, it is time to prepare the place and soil where it will be grown. If you are growing it in a pot, then keep in mind that the pot should be at least 6 inches deep. And if you are sowing it directly in the ground in your garden, then there is no problem. You will need soil that has good drainage. For growing garlic in a pot, you should use a potting mix with good drainage so that it gets complete nutrition and can grow well.
  • After ensuring the place, you should sow garlic cloves in it. Keep in mind that the pointed end of the cloves should be upwards. Sow them at a depth of at least 1-2 inches and keep a distance of 4-6 inches between each clove so that it can grow easily. After planting all the cloves in the soil, pour water from above.
  • Sunlight is very important for garlic to grow well, so choose a place for the plants where the plants get at least 6 hours of sunlight in a day. Keep the plants in the pot in a sunny place during the day. Water the plants regularly, especially keep the soil moist but do not let it get waterlogged.
  • When the plants start growing slowly if you feel the need, you can put some fertilizer in it so that it grows well. If you are not able to understand, then contact your nearest nursery and take advice from them. In this way, you will give proper care to your plants, due to which they will grow well.
  • After a few months, you will see that garlic sprouts have started growing. If you want to enjoy green garlic, then you can take it out now. You can use it in many types of dishes. It tastes very good. If you want to take out the fully matured garlic, then you will have to wait for some more time. After some 5-6 months, when its leaves start drying, then you can take out the garlic.
